Phosphor Bronze Cotter Pins

You need to be logged in to see prices.

Originally a ‘belt and braces’ device for industry for the prevention of unscrewing nuts from shafts and for restraining errant Clevis pins, the Cotter Pin has developed into numerous designs for newer applications in engineering.

Split cotter pins are crafted from robust wire, forming a semi-circular cross-section for added strength. Each pin features two separate legs connected at one end by a round head. When used, the pin is inserted into a pre-drilled hole, commonly found in shafts or bolts, until the head sits flush against the surface.

Using PB102 Phosphor Bronze for Split Cotter pins brings the following advantages:

  • Corrosion Resistance: Phosphor Bronze has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in salt water, making these cotter pins ideal in marine applications and use in harsh environments.
  • Strength and Elasticity: Phosphor Bronze is stronger than Brass and also has good elasticity, adding to the durability and longevity of Phosphor Bronze Cotter Pins.
  • Non-magnetic and conductivity: Phosphor Bronze Cotter Pins benefit from being non-magnetic, but good electrical conductivity, crucial for sensitive electrical devises where magnetic devises could cause issues.

Phosphor Bronze Split Cotter Pins are available in inch sizes from stock 3/64” x ¼” to ½” x 5”.
