30mm Carbon Steel External Circlip

External circlips are designed to fit in a groove on a shaft for the retention of components. Once installed in the groove the protruding part of the ring or the shoulder is what holds the assembly in place. They should be installed or removed with external circlip pliers and are axially installed.
